Talk Is Jericho

Anthrax - 40 Years of New York Thrash

Episode Summary

The core Anthrax lineup of Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Frank Bello, and Joey Belladonna, are celebrating 40 years of Anthrax with some great stories about some of the pioneering highlights from their career. They hit on the Big 4 shows, their appearance on “Married With Children,” traveling on Iron Maiden’s plane with Bruce Dickinson piloting it, the making of the “Among The Living” and “Spreading The Disease” albums, and Joey Belladonna joining the band. They remember the infamous Roseland Ballroom gig that landed them their first major label deal along with Metallica and Raven, Scott Ian shaving his head and Charlie cutting off his hair when long hair was synonymous with metal. They speak to being first to wear board shorts and t-shirts onstage in a time of jean jackets and leather, and being the first to blend rock and rap in an ill-fated project with the Beastie Boys. Plus, they have stories from the new Anthrax 40 documentary, and give a sneak peak at what you can expect if you tune in to the Anthrax live stream event this Friday, July 16th at AnthraxLive.com.
